Why is Food Security Crucial?

Food security impacts every aspect of life—from human security to national stability. Ensuring access to adequate food is crucial for healthy, stable communities. Without it, people face hunger, poor health, and are vulnerable to violence and exploitation.

01

Food Security and National Security

Food insecurity destabilizes societies, disrupts economies, and undermines political legitimacy. When food prices rise, social unrest often follows, threatening national stability. A nation without a resilient food supply is vulnerable to crises, such as natural disasters and economic shocks.

02

Food Security and Good Nutrition

Food security and nutrition are intertwined. Without sufficient, safe, and nutritious food, malnutrition occurs, leading to poor health outcomes such as stunted growth, increased illness, and cognitive impairments. Ensuring access to nutritious food is essential for long-term health and societal productivity.

03

Food Security and Human Rights

Access to food is a fundamental human right recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. When food security is compromised, human rights violations occur, leading to poor health, inequality, exploitation, and economic hardship.
